about us

Monkey Island Animal Rescue and Sanctuary receives it’s funding from Midwest Tongs, dedicated to providing a safe and healthy life for abandoned and unwanted exotic animals.

We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy life for abndoned and unwanted exotic animals.

Our facility is not open to the public, but with the island built just 80 feet from South Harris Road, north of hwy 150 in Greenwood, MO, you can drive by and view the monkeys and lemurs climbing trees, playing on the 64 foot monkey bars, with no steel bars or wire to cages them in. The water around the island creates a natural barrier. This natural display can be seen from approximately April through November, depending on the weather.

If you are thinking about a monkey as a pet be aware. This is not a good choice.

If you are serios about rescuing and taking care of one, maybe this site will be able to provide some useful information.
